Laura Owens Saga

Laura Owens of Scottsdale, Arizona has become a notorious figure over the past decade, leaving a trail of manipulated victims, false claims, and controversial legal battles stretching from 2014 to the present. Her actions have spanned multiple men, businesses, and legal disputes, causing lasting harm for everyone involved. To understand the full scope of her behavior, it’s important to look back at how things have escalated over the years.

It all started in 2014 when Laura Owens briefly crossed paths with someone we’ll refer to as Victim 0. After their encounter, Laura Owens claimed she was pregnant with his child but provided no evidence to back it up. The situation escalated quickly when she filed a paternity lawsuit against him. This led to a (female) lawyer being hired on the man’s behalf, who advised Laura Owens to consult her own obstetrician-gynecologist. Not long after that, Laura withdrew the lawsuit (knowing she wasn’t pregnant), and within two weeks, she reported having suffered a miscarriage.

From there, the pattern of manipulation seemed to become more ingrained. In 2016, Laura started a relationship with a man named Michael Marraccini, which quickly raised red flags. Michael quickly noticed troubling behavior early in his relationship with Laura Owens, including her claim of being pregnant—even stating she was pregnant with twins. She then fabricated a complex narrative, claiming to have undergone six abortions for this singular pregnancy. In addition to these stories, she sent Michael fabricated medical documents, even alleging she had ovarian cancer, which we now know was a complete lie. Despite these supposed health struggles, Laura continued competing in horse jumping competitions—an activity that is clearly unsafe for someone allegedly dealing with such serious medical conditions. Eventually, Michael distanced himself from her, but Laura wasn’t about to let things go easily.

The real trouble began when Laura began sending alarming messages, including threatening suicide and claiming she had checked into an inpatient facility. Laura Owens eventually admitted to Michael, his brother-in-law and her own father, Ronn Owens, that she had never been pregnant, but her behavior continued to escalate. In what can only be described as a bizarre twist, Laura unexpectedly showed up on a trip to Iceland, despite uninviting herself (Marraccini interview, beginning at 1:41:11).

Fast forward to 2017, Laura Owens and Michael Marraccini traveled to Dubai, where things became even more complicated. Michael was dealing with the grief of his stepfather’s sudden health decline and subsequent death, but Laura continued to pressure Michael about their relationship. In August of that year, Michael Marraccini ended things with Laura Owens, but their interactions didn’t stop there. She continued to make false accusations, this time accusing him of physical and sexual abuse, which his new girlfriend quickly saw through.

Laura Owens’ history of manipulative behavior took a more official turn in January 2018 when she confronted Michael and his sister in the street, prompting him to report her to the San Francisco Police Department for harassment. Laura Owens filed a restraining order against Michael the following day, which was granted. The order was renewed in 2020, and Michael has continued to deal with the fallout from his relationship with her, even as he helped Clayton Echard’s legal team in their own battle against Laura.

Laura Owens and her next victim, Greg Gillespie, connected on Bumble and met for drinks on two consecutive evenings, June 30th and July 1st, 2021. On their second meet-up, they engaged in sexual intercourse while using two forms of birth control. The following evening, Laura Owens attended a group dinner uninvited, where Greg Gillespie observed many extremely troubling behaviors, including master manipulation. It was during this dinner that Greg Gillespie concluded he no longer wished to pursue a relationship with Laura Owens.

Approximately two weeks after their intimate encounter, Laura Owens informed Greg she was pregnant with his child, a claim she later revised to twins. Sound familiar? She then proposed a dating contract, stipulating that they enter into a committed romantic relationship. According to the terms, if Greg Gillespie agreed to an exclusive and intentional relationship with her, he could tell her to get an abortion.

At the end of July, Laura Owens “confirmed” her pregnancy with an HCG urine test conducted at a medical facility. On August 6, she called Greg Gillespie and sent him a text containing an ultrasound image that purportedly showed a twin pregnancy. However, Gillespie soon discovered the ultrasound image had been stolen from a 2014 blog (Exhibit 2) authored by a different woman. He confronted Laura Owens with this revelation, and the situation escalated quickly. On August 11, 2021, Laura Owens filed a civil lawsuit against Greg Gillespie, accusing him of abortion coercion, domestic violence, and emotional distress. In April 2024, the stolen 2014 ultrasound was confirmed by the original owner as her own. Additionally, it was revealed that Laura Owens had hired a freelancer from Fiverr to alter the ultrasound, evidenced by the presence of a Fiverr logo displayed in the image, discovered by Dave Neal and Megan Fox during a livestream.

Greg Gillespie suspected Laura Owens of stalking and harassment, including Laura Owens reaching out to the HR department at his workplace. In response, Gillespie sought and was granted an Order of Protection (OOP) against her. However, after three unsuccessful attempts to serve the order, it was rendered ineffective. In retaliation, Laura Owens secured her own OOP against Greg Gillespie in November 2021.

From January to October 2022, the civil case continued, with Laura Owens requesting $45,000 in damages. In August 2022, Laura Owens engaged in ex parte communications with the presiding judge, alleging that she had been drugged and sexually assaulted, claims which she suggested involved Greg Gillespie and his attorney. These allegations, however, were never substantiated, nor was any evidence provided or verified. In October 2022, the civil case was dismissed.

In November 2022, Laura Owens extended her fraudulent OOP against Greg Gillespie for an additional two years. Laura claims to have renewed the OOP against Greg Gillespie (in December 2024), but the order has not yet been served.

Throughout 2023, Laura Owens falsely reported Greg Gillespie to the Scottsdale Police Department on multiple occasions, alleging that he had breached the Order of Protection through online activities. Investigations by the police found no evidence to support these claims.

Clayton Echard, a public figure best known for his appearance on The Bachelorette and The Bachelor, became the latest man to be targeted by Laura Owens’ false claims and manipulative behavior. In May 2023, Laura reached out to Clayton through LinkedIn, claiming she needed help with a real estate deal. But soon after, things took a personal turn when she sent him explicit images and flirtatious messages. This eventually led to them meeting in person, where they engaged in sexual activity. The following day, Clayton made it clear that he wanted a strictly professional relationship. However, Laura Owens’ reaction was more than intense. As a result, Clayton passed the deal on to a colleague. That’s when Laura started to spiral.

Ten days later, Laura sent Clayton Echard a photo of a positive hCG test, claiming she was pregnant with his child. She even upped the ante by claiming to be expecting twins – her MO. Despite this, Clayton refused her repeated attempts to engage with him romantically, including a “dating contract” Laura sent him that stated she would terminate the pregnancy if he agreed to a relationship (just as she did with Greg Gillespie). When Clayton declined, things escalated further. Laura Owens continued to contact him relentlessly, using at least 13 phone numbers and email addresses. This wasn’t the first time she had used these tactics, and it likely won’t be the last.

In August 2023, Laura Owens filed a paternity lawsuit against Clayton Echard in Scottsdale, Arizona, which triggered a series of legal proceedings. By October, both Clayton and Laura had obtained an Order of Protection/Injunction Against Harassment against each other. The court drama took a strange turn in November when Laura Owens claimed to be 24 weeks pregnant, only to state by December that she was no longer pregnant. Laura made a sudden claim that she had lost the pregnancy in the fall of the previous year and requested that the case be dismissed. Her motion was denied, and the judge ordered the release of her medical records, which were to be reviewed during a hearing set for June 10, 2024. It was also revealed that Laura had sent Clayton a doctored sonogram video and ultrasound—an act so blatantly foolish, it could only be the brainchild of someone with an extraordinary lack of judgment.

As the legal saga continued, Laura Owens tried to force Clayton Echard to drop the case by threatening a $1.4 million lawsuit, alleging financial damages related to her property deals. Despite this, Clayton remained committed to the case, determined to establish paternity and recover his legal costs. On June 10, 2024, a two-hour hearing was held where Laura made multiple false claims, including accusing Clayton of rape. These allegations were never substantiated. One week later, Judge Julie Mata ruled in favor of Clayton Echard, stating Laura Owens has a “similar if not identical” pattern of behavior and recommended that Laura Owens be investigated for perjury and other potential crimes by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, led by Rachel Mitchell. The judge also ruled that Laura Owens should pay Clayton Echard’s legal fees, totaling more than $149,000. An investigation into her actions is currently underway.

In the background, Laura continued to harass and manipulate others. Throughout 2023, she targeted content creators, falsely claiming copyright violations and filing bogus complaints. She even attempted to scam a local podcast studio by filing false complaints about their work and demanding a refund. As of December 2024, her complaints were dismissed by the Better Business Bureau, but the damage she caused to businesses like PS Creative Studios remains significant. The studio is currently pursuing legal charges against Laura for her illegal and despicable behavior.

Most recently, Laura has begun a fraudulent GoFundMe in the name of her father, Ronn Owens, preying on his elderly supporters from his days at KGO in San Francisco. It can be assumed most if not all of the funds raised will go to Laura’s ever-growing legal debt.

Laura has impersonated several individuals; some fake, some real, including, but not limited to:

  1. Dr. Rebecca Yee, MD (real person) 2016
  2. Dr. John Chung Kai Chan, MD (real person) 2016
  3. Elena Gates, MD (PCP) (real person) 2016
  4. David Katz (real person, talent manager) 2016-17
  5. Chase Jay Jones (fake person, created by Laura to cancel Clayton Echard) 2023
  6. Tag (fake person, fake ex-boyfriend) 2024

Laura even filed paperwork to have her legal name changed to “Emily Laura Wilson” (November 2023). She filed a motion to withdraw this request, another for fee reimbursement and was later denied reimbursement by the court.

As we enter 2025, the legal ramifications of Laura Owens’ behavior are far from over. Several ongoing investigations and lawsuits are still in play, with many victims coming forward to share their experiences. Despite the chaos she’s caused, Laura seems intent on continuing her pattern of manipulation, leaving a trail of legal and emotional damage in her wake. The question now is whether justice will be served for those who’ve been affected by her actions, and how much longer she can evade the consequences of her manipulative behavior. The story is still unfolding, but one thing is certain—Laura Owens will not allow herself to be easily forgotten.
